What is low-iron tempered glass?

Low-iron tempered glass, also known as "ultra-clear tempered glass," is the "highest purity aristocrat" among glass types. It's made from carefully selected silica sand with an iron content only one-tenth that of ordinary glass (Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.009%). After melting at 1600°C and float forming, it undergoes a 720°C tempering process, creating a compressive stress layer on the surface exceeding 90 MPa.

In short: it combines the strength and safety of tempered glass with the optical benefits of "ultra-clearness, ultra-transparency, and ultra-low impurities." It boasts a visible light transmittance exceeding 91.5%, a haze of ≤ 0.2%, and a gem-quality ice-blue cross-section, completely

eliminating the "green haze" that often appears on the edges of ordinary glass.

Six Core Selling Points

1. Extreme Transparency

A single 5mm glass sheet achieves 91.5% full-spectrum transmittance, an 8% improvement over standard white glass. Even the 57 facets of jewelry displayed in a display case can be clearly counted.

2. Zero-Distortion Color Rendering

With a color rendering index of Ra ≥ 99, light passes through without color shift. Museums use this material to reproduce the vibrant green and blue colors of "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains," allowing visitors to see the true colors of the original painting.

3. Steel-Grade Safety

Surface stress ≥ 90 MPa, a grain size of 40–80 mesh, and impact resistance five times that of standard glass. Shatter-proof, it leaves no sharp edges. Certified by 3C, EN 12150, and ANSI Z97.1.

4. Superior Weather Resistance

After 226 hours of UV aging and 10 cycles of -40°C to 120°C, the glass shows a transmittance loss of less than 0.3%. It remains resistant to yellowing or fogging for 20 years outdoors. 5. A versatile tool for deep processing.

Performs punching, slotting, screen printing, coating, laminating, hollowing, and digital UV printing. Customizable edges, including glossy edges, matte edges, C-angles, and R-angles, meet complex structural and aesthetic requirements.

6. Green and Low-Carbon

Reduced iron impurities lower the melting temperature by 28°C, reducing carbon emissions by 18 kg per ton of glass. Fully recyclable throughout its lifecycle, it meets LEED and BREEAM bonus points.

Application Overview

1. Retail

Luxury display cases, Apple flagship store glass columns, and curtain walls in new energy vehicle experience stores make products the focal point, increasing sales by an average of 12%.

2. Cultural and Art

The National Museum's "Ancient China" exhibition hall and the Shanghai Planetarium's 24-meter ultra-clear tunnel feature low-iron glass that blocks 99% of UV rays, with an illumination of ≤50 lx and zero damage to cultural relics. 3. Photovoltaic Energy

Bifacial double-glass module cover plate, with a light transmittance of +1.8%, a power gain of 3.6%, and a 30-year degradation of <5%, "monetizing" every ray of sunlight.

4. Architectural Landmarks

Airport skylights and the Qianhai Tencent Digital Tower feature ultra-clear glass with SentryGlas laminated technology, resistant to a force 17 typhoon and offering crystal clear views from 100 meters above sea level. 5. Smart Home

90" ultra-clear glass TV backs, built-in refrigerator panels, and steam oven doors withstand extreme temperatures up to 280°C, and easily remove fingerprints and oil stains.

6. Photographic Optics

High-end scanners, drone gimbal covers, and underwater photography chambers. Low-iron glass controls color shift to ΔE ≤ 0.3, allowing photographers to directly produce raw footage without the need for color correction.

7. Medical & Laboratory

Operating room observation windows and PCR instrument optical windows are fog-resistant after 500 wipes with 30% hydrogen peroxide. High UV transmittance ensures accurate fluorescence detection.

8. Transportation

High-speed train windshields and yacht flybridge cockpits feature laminated glass and electric heating for demisting, with a 3,000-hour operating life. No yellowing, allowing speed and scenery to blend seamlessly.

Conclusion

When light passes through low-iron tempered glass, the world seems to be in high definition: the brilliance of jewelry, the patina of cultural relics, and the city skyline all appear before our eyes in their most authentic form. Choosing low-iron tempered glass is more than just selecting

a material; it's a choice to return design to its essence and achieve the ultimate in visual expression.

At this moment, let's leave the "green edge" to the past and the "purity" to the future.
